JD Program

J.D. students are required to take certain basic law courses and are given opportunities to select from a wide range of elective courses. The courses are divided into theoretical courses and practical courses.

Each student is matched with a professor as part of a mentor-mentee relationship, and students also can participate in the mentor-mentee program with practitioners. We provide J.D. students the following four modules as areas of concentration in addition to the primary curriculum of their legal studies:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) Programs
Civil Disputes This module is designed for the students who plan to provide legal services pertaining to everyday legal disputes. Relevant courses are Domestic Litigation, Medical Liability, Tax Law, Consumer Law, Modern Tort Law, etc.
Corporate and Finance Law This module is designed for the students who plan to engage in corporate and financial affairs. Relevant courses are Securities Law, Fair Trade Law, Intellectual Property Law, Antitrust Law, M&A and Law, Tax Law, etc.

Juris Doctor (J.D.) Programs
	Maritime and International Trade Law This module is designed for the students who plan to engage in maritime trade and international business. Relevant courses are International Law, Law of the Sea, International Economic Law, Maritime Insurance Law, Business with China and Corporate Legal Business, etc.
	Public Interests and Public Affaires Related Law This module is designed for the students who plan to provide legal services for public interest and to engage in public affairs. Relevant courses are Local Government Law, Media and Law, Human Rights Law, Theory of Public Interest, Criminal Policies, Social Security and Employment Policy, etc.

J.D. students participate in various extracurricular activities through student clubs and volunteer organizations. Some of the clubs that are focused on legal issues are the Human Rights Association, the Information and Communication Law Association, the Medical Law Association, and the Intellectual Property Law Association. There are also sports- and music-related clubs, such as the Baseball Club, Soccer Club, and the ‘In Dubio Pro Musika’ (Music Performing Club). J.D. students also can participate in the publication of our legal journals. The two main journals published by students annually are PNU Law School Law Review (in Korean) and Law Wave (in English).
